Walling material is where Bengaluru projects trade cost against speed and insulation. Solid concrete blocks (6 inch and 8 inch) are the default for structural walls. Table-moulded clay bricks still dominate small builds. AAC and Porotherm blocks are lighter, bigger and insulate better. They need thinner mortar joints and trained masons.
Solid concrete blocks: strong, locally made (APCO and others), and standard for load-bearing and RCC-infill walls. Clay bricks: smaller and slower to lay, but masons know them and plaster adheres well. AAC and Porotherm blocks weigh a third of concrete and give better thermal comfort with less mortar. They need special anchors for fixings. SMB/CSEB is made from local soil with cement stabilizer, and suits exposed natural-finish builds.
